Noir Fashion Week Returns to Nairobi, Decoding African Luxury Through “The African Code”

NAIROBI, 17th APRIL KENYA —  Noir Fashion Week will return to NAIROBI from August 6–9, 2026 as part of its expanded global tour across Paris, New York, and South Africa.

Noir Fashion Week returns with "The African Code," a strategic exploration of the invisible architecture, textiles, rituals, and material intelligence that define African sophistication. Moving beyond the imitation of Western luxury, Noir positions Nairobi as a critical global gateway where tradition meets future-facing innovation. This return to Kenya reinforces Noir’s commitment to long-term ecosystem building and market validation, decoding a unique East African aesthetic that asserts itself as a core contributor to global fashion discourse rather than a derivative afterthought.

Noir Fashion Week continues to operate as both a cultural platform and an economic engine, connecting designers, artisans, and cultural producers across markets. Its mission remains clear: to reposition Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) creatives as primary stakeholders within the international luxury economy through structured pathways to visibility, ownership, and commercial viability.

Nicole M. Bess, the Founder of Noir Fashion Week, in regarding the platform's strategic return to Kenya, states “Our return to Kenya is not a repetition, it is a continuation. Nairobi represents a critical node in the global fashion ecosystem we are building. With The African Code, we are not just showcasing fashion; we are decoding the intelligence behind it and positioning African creativity as a system of authority within global luxury. At Noir, we understand one thing with absolute clarity: the only way to spell Noir is Global. Our mandate has never been local visibility — it is global positioning, ownership, and influence.”

For the 2026 Nairobi edition, a specialized leadership team has been appointed to ensure both creative integrity and operational excellence.

Itumeleng Kwele, award-winning Fashion Stylist and Resident Creative Director, brings a multidisciplinary approach shaped by his work across fashion, media, and luxury environments. His portfolio includes collaborations with leading platforms such as Robb Report Africa and Billboard, positioning him to translate The African Code into immersive, high-impact experiences that bridge storytelling and commerce.

The 2026 venue will be set against Tigoni’s rolling tea estates and historic colonial homes, the venue offers a rare blend of serenity and sophistication, a backdrop that mirrors Noir’s vision of heritage-rooted luxury.
